Perinatal Counsellor

 Hourly rate of $26.84 to $34.72, depending on experience.
 Permanent full-time position (35 hours per week).

RESPONSABILITIES

The incumbent accompanies and supports future and new parents from the urban Indigenous community of Val-d'Or throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the early stages of the infant's life
 
 
Concretely, your main challenges will be to :
 
  • Develop a program aimed at promoting maternal and infant health and well-being.
  • Help parents acquire skills that will impact the child’s development and the parent’s growth in their new role.
  • Share basic knowledge and Indigenous tradition related to perinatal care.
  • Support new parent during the early stages of the infant’s life through home visits.
  • Collaborate with the medical team to ensure holistic follow-up for the pregnant woman or the infant.  
 
REQUIREMENTS
 
Your profile 

  • College’s degree in specialized education, nursing, or equivalent, combined with 1 to 2 years of work experience in a similar field.
  • Training in perinatal care, an asset.
  • Work experience and-or knowledge related to the reality and issues in the Indigenous environment.
  • General knowledge of OLO program.
  • Hold a valid driver licence is mandatory.
  • Great knowledge of computer and technological tools (Office suite software).
  • Good knowledge of French and English.
